Puerto Duquesa

Environment and landscape::

The Duquesa Golden Mile developments are built in a beautiful natural environment which has made Manilva into a municipality that is famous for its agricultural products, especially vineyards, which give us a spectacular natural landscape with enormous areas, well cared for, and which gives a continuous green view that disappears into the horizon.
The topography is superb in this territory, as the soft slopes which descend from Manilva to the sea give us a splendid view of the coast, which stretches from Marbella to Gibraltar, not forgetting the Northern coast of Africa, which can be seen on clear days.

Climate:

Due to the mountains in the north, which protect it both from the cold winter winds and the warm summer winds, Manilva is proud to enjoy a peculiar climate, with mild temperatures during the whole year for the residents of this area.

Services:

As a well planned city centre, Manilva provides all its inhabitants with all local services they may need, making it completely unnecessary to go to other municipalities to look for what is needed. The Duquesa Golden Mile developments are not unaware of this advantage, as they are perfectly connected with all kinds of services and entertainment to satisfy any needs. Impeccable beaches surrounded by supermarkets, chemists, restaurants, bars, shops, children´s parks, health centres and a long etc., permit both permanent residents and people who are just on holiday to have everything they may need within reach during their stay.

History:

Manilva did not start out on its course until the end of the XVIII century as, until then, it had formed part of the municipality of Casares. Throughout its entire history, the livelihood of this Andalusian village has mainly been based on fishing and agriculture, the growth of grapes being the most outstanding, from which one of the best grape juices is obtained among the surrounding areas.
Flanked by Sotogrande and Marbella, its location has allowed its traditional flavour to follow up on a flourishing tourist sector for which the beaches, the Golf course and the Marina of La Duquesa are equally responsible.

Golf:

La Duquesa Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, has 18 holes and is in an extraordinary position, allowing one to enjoy the impressive views of the sea and the African continent at the same time as it wraps us in the Mediterranean breeze.
Right in the midst of the Costa del Golf, the courses available are never ending. At a short distance we find Valderrama (Ryder Cup 1997), Sotogrande, Almenara, San Roque Club, Alcaidesa, etc. These locations make Manilva the essential meeting place for visitors and professionals who practice this sport.

Sports Marina:

Lovers of sailing are in luck: Manilva has a marvellous natty sports marina with all services and amenities. It is in the Puerto de la Duquesa, with 328 mooring places, where a series of services are available such as a dry dock, hoist and 24 hour security. This marina also has a variety of gastronomical and leisure premises, where there is a hullabaloo of languages in the summer evenings, a defiant and disorderly mixture, as if it were a new Babel.

Beaches:

It is already a tradition for the beaches of Manilva to be given blue flags, which is an indication of the painstaking care and concern in looking after its coast. It is not in vain that fishing is another source of income for this municipality which offers a splendid gastronomy based on the freshest seafood. Our beaches are well consolidated with all services and amenities, making them both safe and clean, in an ideal environment for enjoying them at any time of the year.

Tourist environment:

The situation of Manilva, halfway between the provinces of Cádiz and Málaga and at the same time between the sea and the mountains give it a very special character, with a coastal environment, but not forgetting the influences of the sierra. Excellent roads lead out of Manilva, which take us through extraordinarily beautiful and unexploited natural environments, to settings with such a mountainous region flavour like the villages of Casares, Gaucín, Ronda, Árcos de la Frontera, Castellar, etc. At the same time, either by motorway or by a main road, we can easily travel to first class coastal areas like: Estepona, Puerto Banús, Marbella, Sotogrande and Gibraltar.
